pedastel seats

I want to change out the pedastels on my boat. The seats are in great shape, but the pedastels' pistons dont work. My front seat stays in its lowest position...Im 6'1" and I felt kinda sore day after full day of boating from sitting and working the trolling motor. I need the seat higher. My question is, any suggestions on getting them out? They are the spring load type, but they wont budge. I mean they feel cemented in there kind of stuck. And where would I buy replacements? When buying something at academy I looked at what they had and they all looked like the bolt down type. I didnt look very hard as I was in a hurry.

I was going to replace mine but after seeing how much they were I decided I liked standing and fishing a lot better haha

Seriously?! I figured it would be a decently cheap fix. i was thinking of leaving the deck open without the seat too, but Im better on the trolling motor foot pedal while sitting.

Yeah I think one for my boat was close to $80 I just like no seat cause more room and can move around but taking a seat would be nice too. I just feel like I fish better standing up. But my seat did the same thing it's stuck in the lowest position

To get the pedestal out of its holder, spray a generous amount of penetrating oil around the base and let it sit overnight. (Put a cloth under the pedestal to catch the runoff - if you can get your hand under there). The next day, wrap the pedestal with a thick cloth, or better yet, a strip of leather, to protect the metal, and using a pipe wrench, twist the shaft back and forth just enough to help free it up. At the same time, you might try pushing and pulling the pedestal back and forth slightly while simultaneously pulling the entire pedestal up and out of the hole. A buddy of mine had such a difficult time, he ended up buying and using a can of that very expensive Kroil Oil before it came loose. About three months ago, I paid $16 for a 12 oz can. That may sound expensive, but when all else fails, it becomes more reasonable.

Thanks alot for the help. Where can I buy that Kroil Oil stuff? Im going to try and pull those seats out this weekend. As well as hopefully hook up a couple fish finders. What sealant do yall suggest to use to seal the old transducer bracket holes on the transom?

I bought "deep creep" to try and remove my seats. I sprayed a decent amount down into the base. I didnt spray the whole bottle because it looked like it was loosening the carpet. Dang these seats are going to be the death of me!!! I got the fishfinder at the bow hooked up, but broke the power and transducer cables for the old one (they were dry rotted). Oh well, gives me a reason to buy a new one. Haha.
