Has anyone been to Terrace View Marina on Watts Bar? How's the fishing around there? Also how is the Marina? As you can see I'm from Colorado so I don't know much about the place.

I have stayed there, but it's been too long ago (~20 years ago now) to be of any value as to it's current condition. It was not a new facility then, but was well kept when we stayed there. There was a usable ramp and covered slips with power. I would think whoever owns it now has made many updates. It is located mid-lake. Lots of good fishing down there without having to run far. Hopefully someone with current info will post. I'm interested to hear myself.

The temperature at the surface of Watts Bar is above 81ºF now. Fishing has been tough and, overall, this year has not been as good as last year for me. Perhaps the lake will rebound next year. Last year was very good for crappie.

Another great place to stay that is nearby is Arrowhead Resort http://arrowheadresort.com/ I've been going there for over 30yrs and you couldn't ask for better facilities. the owners are outstanding.
About the fishing, this time of year is tough during the day but can be outstanding at night. when we go there in the summer they call us the vampires because we only go out at night. early morning can be productive but only until about 10:00 am

I know this is a fishing forum and I'm a fisherman but how is Watts Bar for recreational boating? I know there is a huge difference between the two. I'm and fisherman but the rest of my family are recreational boaters.

The reason I asked about Terrace View is if people remember me from a few months back I asked about B&B Marina down off the Hiwassee River. My family is in the market to buy a marina and Terrace View is for sale and we are very interested in it. I see the fishing side of the Marina business and would try to improve on it the best we could as were my family would work on the recreational side.

IMO, that area is great for the rec boater. The TN river channel is well marked and maintained for commercial and rec traffic. There are several good sized marinas in that area that cater to some pretty major cruiser type vessels. Blue Springs and Bayside are on the opposite side of the lake from Terrace View. Up river there is one just below Rockwood and another at Caney Creek just below Kingston. IMO Terrace View, while in a great location, would be pretty cramped for docking many larger vessels. Access by road is probably not the best for transporting larger vessels either. You all need to put "boots on the ground" down there. It really is in a nice part of the country. Good luck!!

My parents will be there in a couple weeks to look at it. I love that part of the country. For the last 5 years or so we have been going to Springs Dock on Norris for a week or two each year. I have been trying to move back there ever since I started going on vacation there.

terrace used to be a great place, had entertainment at night and a busy restaurant. i live behind the marina, was my favorite watering hole. the new owners have lost a lot of the big boats, main dock was full it now has 13-14 empty slips. he has done a real nice job remodeling the restaurant but did not do well operating it last year, and never even opened it up this year. the national allison rally has been hosted there the last 3 years selling out the motel and zero complaints about the the rooms(people come from 15-16 states), only complaints have been the lack of enthusiasm and welcoming from the owners to all us allison owners that are here for 7 days. until a couple years ago it was the home of the watts bar yacht club. their are a few other yacht clubs that come come in for the night, just not as many the last year or 2. snipe wish you and the family would come buy it and get things back to the way it was a couple years ago. as far as a rec. lake watts bar is great big wide open lake, you can run from bank to bank with out having to run while watching your graphs.

I am going to Watts Bar this month for the remain of the period. I currently experienced the zone, spent a many of days and looked at a few cabins. The whole zone are superb. I observed Watts bar lake to be exceptionally charming.

Don't know about Terrace View but we stayed at Euchee Marina & Campground for the August eclipse (it was in the path of totality). It was a nice place. Nice restaurant and they have hotel type rooms and camping, some with full hookups. I think they have a rental small house or two. A couple of boat ramps and a marina where you can rent a slip. Bathrooms & showers. There is a swimming area. They had live music too. The marina store was well stocked with beer & ice (very important while getting ready for the eclipse).

BTW - I moved here from Colorado 12 years ago and have not regretted it once!

Please note that this note was from August of 2014. I don't understand why it is being read now. It was hot then.
