Kayak Fishermen

I was fishing in Wolftever Creek yesterday. I saw 3 guys fishing in kayaks. I have been wanting to give that a try. It looked like fun until I saw a bass boat run really close to the boat in the rear of the pack. You guys are brave. I know you have the right of way. I sat my boat down way before I got to you and idled past you but several other boats just ran past you guys. I understand the kayak can handle rough water but I dont like to run at high speed that close to someone. You dont have any protection in a kayak. If I get one I may just keep it in my pond.

I was out there yesterday in my kayak and had a white Stratos buzz by me on plane in the no wake zone. It looked like it was on purpose, but as with any other hobby there are going to be some jerks.

Now, if I can figure out how to catch a crappie I will be doing good. This is the first year I have tried for them and have had zero luck.

I really like fishing from my kayak but it only took a couple trips to Chickamauga to convince not to do it again. I use the kayak in smaller waters. I like the simplicity of the kayak and it just adds to the experience. I have caught a lot more fish from my kayak than my bass boat. Mainly because of the smaller water but also because it forces you to slow Down and really work an area more thorough sine you can't just fly around the lake.

I saw that white Statos run wide open thru that WC-no wake zone on Thursday late afternoon, he did slow down to only about half throttle to go under the bridge where there was a pontoon boat with 4 children tied to the abutment and the wake bounced it badly several times off the concrete. There is only one no wake buoy left and it is near the fishing pier side...TWRA needs to replacethe one that's missing and maybe add another across the no wake boundary. I saw that missing no wake buoy on the bank somewhere back in the creek but I cant remember exactly where. Maybe he is an out of towner andthinks that is ahazard markerby the pier, as it is hard to distinguish the difference from a distance.

Sounds like it might be a stratos thing or the same person. Kayak fishing is a lot of fun, I love mine but any breeze is tough.

It isn't just Kayaks that get this treatment. A guy in a black or maybe even a very dark maroon Triton felt the need to run right at me while I was searching for an offshore hump. I was zig- zaging around idling trying to mark the channel and the hump and this guy runs right at me shaking his head and holding his arms up like I was an idiot. he had the whole lake... why run right at me? He blew by me very close then he did a power "U" turn and went back the other way... very strange... He is probably on the board here as I see that boat on the lake all the time.

Just go further up into the creeks that feed the Wolf.. Savanna Bay beyond the bridge has a small ramp and plenty of great fishing with full pool.. Same for the other creek feeding from the Southeast..Dayton Boat dock accesses good waters. The creeks near Soddy-Daisy, And one of my favorites is the Slough through the Culvert just above Armstrong bridge.. Harrison Bay Ramp area has some good fishing over the stumps around the Rocky point... There are plenty places to go and out of harms way of that Stratus moron..
