Bait to use for bass hitting mayflys

noticed a lot of fish busting on mayflys near possum and sale creek today. what topwater bait is best to catch them with when they are feeding on them? I tried a popper but no luck.

Best lure I've used is Rooster Tails. You can get the single hook type rather than treble hooks at Academy Sports. They are easier to get a fish unhooked with those.

Small brown frog type baits, especially poppers...

Got a few mayflies up here on Watts Bar and I threw a couple different things and ended up settling on a Chartreuse buzz bait. Caught one smallie that was pretty decent and lost another largemouth that was a toad.

A small popper like a original pop-r will work about as well as anything, in the Bone color or mostly white in color. I do not think it matters all that much most days, I have found that normally bream will be around the mayflies, and the bass will be eating some mayflies but mostly the small bream and other fish that are after the bugs. The popper does a good job of making the area unsettled and keeping the action going. I throw it in to the area and then instead of popping it I will just twitch it in place for a while and normally the bigger bass will hit it, even though you will catch some big bream doing that too. A feathered hook is almost mandatory for this to work well though.

Lot's of mayfly action still going on in Harrison Bay on both sides of the lake. Ducks...birds...and fish -- were having a feast. It was especially heavy around Pinky's Point today - Thursday.
