What are your intentions with the gun? So many options that it helps to narrow down the selection by knowing what you will be doing with the weapon.

Nikon makes a BDC reticle scope made for .223 and 5.56. that being said, I have bought 2 scopes, a spotting scope, binocluars, and a range finder from Vortex in the last year. check out their website. I recall seeing several scopes made for black guns and their warranty is unbeatable.

I have one of the Nikon's mentioned above. It's nice but I also have heard great things about the vortex products. The only experience I have with them are binoculars and they are great quality at a affordable price.

I have the 3x32 power P-223 Nikon and it's okay. Clarity and light transmission are good and I like the reticle. Inside 100 yards it's nice. For my eyes though, I struggle locking in on targets outside that range. The BDC compensation the scope has would be great if I could see that far! For anything long distance, I would look into either the Nikon 3x9x40's or a Vortex. Vortex is coming on strong lately, might be worth a look before deciding.

Is yours a flat top or does it have a carrying handle? I have one with handle and put a 4x aimpoint on it. It's great for 150yds or less.
If you have a flat top you can mount a much larger scope in 3x9x40 or larger. I second the Vortex brand and of course Leopold.

Great choice on the glass. Check out dnz mounts. I have several rifles setup with them and love them.
