Duckett micro’s

I’ve never owned a rod with the micro eyes on it. Any feedback on their performance? They sure look different than a regular casting rod. I was wondering why the theory was behind them and if they work well?

Thanks!!

They are good. I own a few micros. Honestly I can't tell much difference. Some people does not like them if you fish in cold weather. Say they freeze up. I have fished in cold weather with them. Has not happened to me yet. But I am sure it will.

they reduce billowing between the guides, reducing friction and increasing efficiency(casting distance). some brands are better than others, they are small and getting them tied/wrapped to the rods properly so they dont come off can be difficult for some. ive fished them for years and one thing i have definitely learned is when you get hung up and you cant get your lure back, just cut the line! the line recoiling through the rod when you break it off has cost me several guides.

It has been my experience that the eye inserts fall out more easily on the tips and on the rods. I've had to replace many guides for this reason. I've heard the comments about casting distance but I would think it would reduce casting distance because the line stays in contact with the eyes more on the micros. They put more micro guides on rods than the regular guides. I think this may distribute the load more evenly when fighting a fish. Micro guides freeze up worst than standard guides when winter fishing.

I like the smaller guides, but not the Micro's that Duckett uses. I have two of the rods now, had owned others too and like the rods, but those tiny guides are really small and on a windy day if something happens and you have to restring your rod you can really have some issues. Also, I have never had any trouble with them, but prefer the somewhat bigger guides on my Kistler's to the super tiny ones on the Ducketts.
