All purpose rod and reel

If you could only use one (except crankbait and possibly a few others) what rod (make, power & action) and reel (make and gear ratio) would you choose? Thanks for your input.

Medium power with a fast action rod and a spinning reel. A baitcast reel would really limit you I would imagine. That's what combo I keep in my truck.
 
Spinning in Med light action. can throw small to med size baits. Keep spare spool loaded with a heavier line in case it's needed, but lighter gives more choices. Have caught more fish over 5 lbs on my ultralight to med gear (4-8 lb line).

7' medium heavy fast action Yankum or Cashion baitcaster rod with Lews 6.8:1 is my all round rod

Ive got a telescoping medium action rod and spinning reel ( i think with 12 lb test) that never leaves my truck. makes it easy to store and use when ever!!
