The male receptacle (one of the pins broke) on my 1198. I called Hummingbird to see about getting it fixed and they want to charge me 500 dollar service charge to repair it. Anyone know who works on them?

call DJ's, they would know but thats likely a HB only issue

Surely there is an electronics shop around here somewhere that can open it up and fix it. Likely a simply solder fix.

Have you tried talking to Hummingbird I heard sometimes they will work with people but I can't confirm that firsthand .

Yes they said it would be 500 just for the service charge. It's probably a 5 dollar piece.

It's becoming a rich man's game. I will probably pay the 500 or buy a new one which is what they want you to do hence the 500 bucks! Since I robbed my savings and bought the I-pilot I will have to stay with Hummingbird.
