Trailer Problems

Fished yesterday and on the way home I lost bearings on passenger side hub. When I got home, the bearing buddy was gone, all the grease slung out, and bearings ruined (Smoking). This is the second time this has happened. It happened about 6 or 8 months ago. I replaced it with a hub kit from Northern Tool. Any pointers or ideas on what I could have done wrong?

Have you checked your spindle? make sure the bearing inner race doesn't spin on spindle and check to see that where the seal sets is smooth..

Be sure when you install the new hug and buddy, you grease the buddy until the spring comes 1/2 way out. This way you know the hub is full. And like the previous post, be sure the oil seals have not worn a groove into the spindle.

one other thing is I m not sure what grease come in the hub and what grease you are using, but make sure they are compatible. Most lithium complex greases are regardless of color...but some moly or barium or calcium base greases are not and can ruin the lubricants intergrity
