What size line does everyone use for Big Crankbaits like 8XD, 10XD, 6th Sense Crush, DT20. ETC.

I like Seaguar Abrazx 12lb Fluro, But would like to hear what other people use.

Thanks ! emoGrouphug

I like sunline sniper 12 lb. and I check for abrasions regularly. If I feel any abrasions I retie.

That line casts well so you can get the bait down deeper than other lines I feel like.

I use Seaguar Invisx 12lb on my deep crank rods, some use 10 but I do not feel comfortable doing that on this lake

Ten pound mono , and it has stretch so you don't rip hooks out. Also most of your cranks dive ratios are rated on ten pound test.

I would not recommend Mono as it floats instead of sinks. The purpose of a deepcrankbait is to go deep, so it just makes sense. I use 10-12lb Invisix fluorocarbon. Check it often for abrasion and re-tie accordingly. If you go any bigger than 12lb the deep diver will not go as deep as its supposed too.

its interesting, while flouro does have less stretch and sinks, mono casts better. i wonder if anyone has ever done a comparison? if i could get flouro to cast like mono id be all over it but then there is the price difference.. nvm just gonna stick to my 1200yd spool of 12lb big game for $8 LOL!

ultimately the goal is to get your bait down there and keep there as long as possible, so long casts and sinking lines are a good thing

I've been flipping with 20lb test big game all spring and love it!! Also I use it for the a rig too and love it. I don't buy into the line crap. I enjoy spending my hard earned 8 bucks for 650 yards of 20lb test!

LOL!!! thats funny right there! over the years ive tried the new lines and keep trying them hoping i'll find something "better." but i keep coming back to CLEAR Big Game. i emphasize the clear because the pigments used to make the lines different colors affects the line usually making them more stiff and increasing line memory.

You’re gonna laugh at me because I use 50# braid when i fish a 10XD. I’d be nervous using 10 or 12# line with a lure that pulls with that much water resistance and then you set the hook into a decent fish ?! Also, when it digs into the bottom and gets hung, you need some heavy line to pull it loose, otherwise, it gets pretty expensive when you break it off with 10# line. Just sayin’....

You are right on with the clear. I always seem to have more memory with the green stuff too, and that goes with all line that is colored. Only time I have any memory issuer is if its extremely cold or super hot and my reels were in the sun all day. Bring them indoors and spray them with kvd conditioner and the next day they are good to go. It really is crazy the price difference.

Yeah no joke, that 10-12lb test is kinda scary if you get hung up. I feel pretty good with 15lb test. You run a leader to your braid?

Guys try some K9 Flouro 10 or 12 test you can get it at Fish Tales in Cleveland or online. Its a flouro with some nylon blended in has some stretch and great for cranking. almost forgot $18 to $19 for 550 yd spool.

Unless you are long lining, you are not gonna get max depth of the bait with anything over 10lb. I use 10lb. invisix. Grew up throwing deep cranks on 8lb. mono. Low ratio reel, long noodle rod

Nothing wrong with mono as for decades, that's all there was. I've found that Maxima is the very best mono. Slightly smaller diameter. Then, P Line came out with Co polomar which was even better. I prefer it over mono. I now use Floro for everything unless I'm fishing the surface and need my line to float but, after using floro and braid, mono is like fishing with a rubber band. You need a stiffer rod. Most of these deep crankbaits now go plenty deep with any line but if you are looking for maximum depth from a particular bait, use floro- 10-12#. Floro still has some stretch which is desirable for surging fish near the boat. So far the best floro I've used is Sunline Crank FC. It has a little more stretch for hard strikes while using any moving hard bait. One thing to remember tho- one backlash or fold over of floro line and its toast. It will eventually break. This line revolution is too expensive for me so I look for clearance specials. Otherwise it's P Line Co polomar. There are so many lines and opinions out there whenever you get confused, just go to youtube and always just do whatever KVD does. He's the crankbait king.

Good points.

One of the best crank bait fisherman of all time uses braid at times. (David Fritts)

I don’t use a leader. I want the 50# test line to free the lure when it gets hung on the bottom
