I hope to visit Chattanooga, not sure exactly when but i need to time my visit according to the general weather conditions i,e. daily temperatures. I have never been to that part of the world but being a very keen fisherman,id love to spend a few days trying my luck, for no other reason than a friendly experieancecheers. I have no knowledge at all of the american style of fishing and any advice, help, im sure i can swap a few stories back and forth,

No Baramundi here but I bet someone could put you on some big largemouth bass and catfish.
Ask any questions you may have. These guys are very helpful here.

If you can catch bass there, you'll catch 'em here too. Going to get hot and humid here shortly. Best to wait till fall. IMO.

Thank you, most aussies are known for their bullshit, and their respect for those answering the call, funny by name, good buddies by nature

I dont know how to acknowledge your response, My brother was in Vietnam , 1st Battalion, 1964 Royal Australian Regiment, Another good friend also in the first battalion ,a later deployment . My son in law is from Chattanooga ,also from military stock, , just need to get the timing right without the hot weather, weve just had the most depressive summer i can remember. .Definitely ill keep in touch.Regards..Mark

I dont catch too many bass, im interested in what i havent caught, Im on holiday, im more of a trout man. Other species we have here will certainly interest you. Our natives certainly produce some good times. Murray cod can sometimes exceed 100lb. cheers

No,not in town just yet, helping a buddy out whos in line for a lung transplant,he was called in yesterday, now things are on the move with that i can get more serious about my visit to Chattanooga.I Have to travel long distances and of course lots of time from Sydney to wherever..Weather is my concern, we have just been through the most uncomfortable summer in my lifetime. Visiting Indonesia for my daughters wedding was a stretch of tolerance in the weather . I dont mind fishing in the heat but only at night, i guess any time after sundown, Where were you based at in the military? Sipping on a Bundy ? I havent done that for a while. Can you get it there?. I think theres a limit of 2 litres duty free, definitely something to think about.. If you want to see some big Aussie freshwater fish, Youtube has some good vision on "Murray Cod". take a look, other species are catered for also., il keep in touch.cheers..Mark

Whatever is in the water, catfish are monsters there , the catfish here are a different breed, (eel tailed) and no where the size compared to the type in the U.S.. I f you make your own bait, i cant say how to make it but i can suggest an ingredient.. I found it exceptional, probably a secret for the commercial producers. The product has a few names,, "BELACAN" or "TRASI", the westener would call it shrimp paste Comes from several asian countries. Its incredibly pungent, can be purchased from any asian food store. ill keep in touch, cheers

i was joking about the trading fishing for the Bundy. let us know when you come to town and we'll try to work things out. its likely to be in the 80's during the day with high humidity for the next couple of months, this is the south :)

i was @ Ft Ord, CA for this experience. it was a joint training with Australian, British, Canadian and US forces
