Helix 7: janky

I inherited a Helix 7 with the transducer not attached interestingly. So I attempted to affix it in an ideal spot in the hull/ bilge area. But the depths are out of wack. I was in grasshopper and it was reading 890+ feet. It stayed around that. I tried adjusting it with no luck. Anyone seen this before? Any suggestions?

What trb81 asked, if only in realy shallow water it must be some kind of sonar signal bounce back. Also since you're shooting through your hull it has to be the correct transducer for that application and you have to have it selected correctly in the Helix's set up menu for transducer. It can be difficult to find a place in the bilge that is level with the water and you have to make sure you secure it to the bilge surface without any voids. I hope you get your problem corrected. Issues with our boats accessories are very frustrating as the aggravation defeats the whole purpose of fishing which is relaxation:)
