Rod choice for A-rig

Just seeing a lot of folks throwing The Rig on the water and was wondering what is a good rod and reel combo for throwing such a beast?

Thanks

I just started throwing one. I’m using a picifun reel with a 7.6 heavy rod. 65 lb braid and it seemed to handle it fine. Was throwing a flash mob jr though. Not sure about the full sized rigs

7’9 to an 8 ft xh rod with a medium to low speed reel. I recommend a lews super duty wide spool in a 5.3:1. This is ideal as springmillvol said I threw mine on a 7’6 for a while before I built my 8ft rod and I won’t be going back.

^^^^^^^What he said. Joe Burns makes a rig rod that will not wear you out and will cast a mile if you put a good Lews reel on it. I use a BB1 Pro.

Veritas has a 7'9 schooling rod that is perfect. Loads up nice and easy. I dropped down to a cranking reel 5.4:1 last year and have not regretted it. I get a lot more cast in, by not being worn out at the end of the day.
