Humminbird Help?

Another dumb question .............I'm needing some sound advise.
I'm looking into adding a nice Humminbird to my console, thinking Helix 7 or 10 but the Solix is the newest thing. I'm fairly well versed in computers but not an expert by any means.
I'm putting it on a 19' Stratos, already have a small bird in the dash. I want DI, GPS, and Side Imaging and Lakemaster chip capable. I’ve heard some good things about the 360 also.
With all that said what would you all think would be a good choice? Thanks for your help.

Doug Vahrenberg is the hb guru and has a whole series of vids comparing the helix to the solix:

i think you'll be pleased with either, bigger is better if you can pull it off. if the unit you currently have in the console is networkable then you can add another to the console, one on the front with the 360 on the trolling motor and link them all through the ethernet hub and share waypoints, gps and some imaging depending on the units.

+1 with putting the 360 on your TM and with bigger is better.

If the console unit doesn't fit into the space you have look into some of the mounts made by Bass Boat Technologies. I wanted a 12" on the console of my Triton but the dash wasn't big enuff to take it. BBT makes a mount that allowed me to put the new Helix where I wanted it without having to rebuild the thing. Very sturdy, easy mount/dismount.

Just a fair warning . I’ve gotten to use Solix several times now and they are out of this world good , but it’s a completely different operating system . Takes a while to figure everything out .

Unless you're wanting to do alot with nmea and have a bunch of custom screens, the helix will be the way to go. Save up for the 10" as well.

I have two of the Helix 10 chirp, mega si, gps, G2n. I love them. I wish I was tech savvy. They are great, but probably much better if I could find someone to give me a tutorial.

That's one thing I'm afraid of is "getting in over my head".

i think most folks over think the hb units, they really are very easy to use but one of the best things ive figured out is to scan and then move the cursor on the screen to "freeze" the screen THEN adjust your contrast and sensitivity until you get the best image for those light and water conditions and not uncommon to do this a couple times a day as the light levels change

As usual some really good advise here.
Thanks again.

And remember the helix 7 is a stand alone unit and you cannot network your units together and thats the one thing I don't like about the 7.
