I would also like to know. I had a motorcycle helmet that molded up in my compartment. I liked it and bought it used on here. I ordered a save phace with a gift card from BPS and it was on back order then cancelled. So now im looking again.

I use ski goggles with a baclava and a stocking cap. Helmet is too heavy and hurts the neck. Also, I recently read the if you are ejected from the boat it can be very dangerous.

save a phace was my first thought...before I ordered I just thought to see what other options might be out there.

I use a full face helmet, I can't take the cold hitting me in the face. I leave it very loose so it will come off if I did have an accident

I too have a save phace and it works like it should but the major concern with them is the less than quality foam they use for the seal. When I wear mine , I always push the mask away from my face while putting on and taking off. I don't drag the foam on my skin so maybe it will last a few years.

The article I referred to was in the last issue of Bass Times. Casey Ashley likes helmets and Kevin VanDam refuses to wear one. He thinks they restrict your vision along with the danger if you are ejected. Ashley on the other hand likes them, especially if it is raining. The problem I have had with my save face is that it fogs up and I can't see. I also have a neck problem and the helmet aggravates it. That is why i go with the ski goggles. Everyone has their preference. Just stay safe out there.

Yeah we ran around all day yesterday and it was pretty cold in that wind. Cheapest, best, and most convenient way to stay warm that I have found is A double layer neck warmer pulled up to my sunglasses, my toboggan, gortex jacket zipped over my mouth, and then a pair of snow googles and I am good to go. rip off the googles and pull the hood back and ready to fish. That way I can just leave my toboggan on all day and its quick and easy and cheap! snow goggles were 6 bucks and the neck warmer was 2.50. You can find the snow goggles for 2 dollars but they take a little longer to ship. I'd rather have a save phace than a motorcycle helmet and I've used both.

I use a Save Phace. I have had one since they first came out. I love mine. They dont take up the space a helmet does. I even have a couple of extra ones in the boat for my partner. In the winter I put it on after I have my hood up. It is also nice in the summer at night. It keeps the bugs off your face and is nowhere near as hot as a helmet. Not to mention there is a danger with a helmet if you get ejected from the boat at a high rate of speed. I know someone that broke his neck with a helmet. It may have happened anyway but no one knows.

I wear the Save Phace and really like it. A friend of mine was thrown out of a boat on Weiss 2 weeks ago and almost drowned because of his motorcycle helmet. He said that the seal was so tight he couldn't get the water out quickly.

Academy sports has a paintball mask for 35 bucks with tax and covers the face and side of the head. does not fog up in the winter while running and does not sweat your face in the summer for the bugs. light weight and comfortable to wear.
