Possum Creek Launch 5/11

First time putting in at possum creek this morning. I put in at Chester Frost normally but don’t care to much for crossing the bay to find fish. It seemed like a decent area with tons of features, cover, and docks. I threw top water at first, then a Texas rig creature plastic, then a spinner bait, then finally a Carolina rig plasma tail. I finally caught a bass at 10:30 but that was it. I keep reading how good the bite is right now, what am I doing wrong!

I put in at Possum Creek Monday and fished from behind the campground to almost in the very back. Didn’t catch anything. Don’t even remember having a bite. Usually we catch something in there..Don’t know what’s going on.

Not sure if this is the reason or not, but I have noticed that Possum Creek and Sale Creek get hit really hard this time of year from the mouths to the back because you can target prespawners, spawners, and post spawners in a short time. Same with Soddy Creek. Fish are heavily pressured. Just a thought.

There's your answer. Everyone and their brother has been piled into creeks pounding them to death looking for spawners for the past month

That makes sense, thanks a lot for the feedback! I wish I had electronics to map out more areas but for now it’ll be trial and error. I just want to get into more areas on the chick without paddling for miles. I might try grasshopper next

Have you tried the back end of Sale Creek? There is some skinny water to cross to get back there that, I think, scares big boats.

Awesome, good to know! Im not a big dude and my crappy Walmart kayak can even float in about 4” of water. I’ll have to check it out.

I can vouch for the Iles Rd ramp. Beautiful spot. I've put both my kayak and boat in there several times. You can paddle upstream from there all the way to HWY 27 or downstream to the big bay in the back of Sale Creek past the bridge. I've had good luck fishing the deep water channel that far upstream.

I looked it up on the map. Looks like a there’s a cool island with some trees scattered around in the water. I’m hitting it up tomorrow morning! Thanks again!
