So, Does anyone know why this JackHammer chatterbait is supposedly so much better than a regular chatterbait? What makes it better besides the high price.

Better components and better head design. The Jackhammer truly vibrates harder and at much slower retrieve speed than any other bladed jig. The jackhammer starts vibrating as soon as the reel handle is turned and that helps it stay down without climbing in the water column.

This is strictly my opinion and I’m sure others will have offer other ideas.

Yep, that is my experience as well..it is overpriced in my opinion but has a faster vibration or shimmy and a much better hook, it is just hard to understand how those upgrades are another 12 bucks. I have tried some of the local made ones and perhaps it is just a confidence thing but of the fish I have caught on a chatter bait, the jackhammer seems to be the top producer. I wish someone would come out with one that competes well at about half the price.

Check out the ones at Choo Choo lures go to Choochoolures.com they are top notch and in my opinion outfish the others hands down. Look them up under shaker his spinnerbaits are incredible too

I’ve fished the Choo choo and the jackhammers. I prefer the jackhammer, they seem to last longer and they vibrate better than any other ones. The choo choo shakers that I have used wear the paint off the jig head after only a few times of using them. It’s just the way the blade is attached to the jig head on the choo choo.

I have tried a lot of them, even made a few of them, but my favorites are the jackhammer and the Rumblefish made by Strikezone lures. The Jackhammer runs true every time, the blade does not foul up or get wrapped in the line if you yo-yo it or just get hung up, plus that hook is great, I seldom even set the hook, just pull back into them and they are hooked prefect every time. But I do not catch numbers on the jackhammer's when I get one it is a good fish. The Strikezone ones have holes it the blade and a wider wobble than the jackhammers. They will foul occasionally, but the downside to those is the hook, you have to sharpen it and you have to really stick them to get them, but at times it will out fish the jackhammer. I get more bites on the Rumblefish, and I have caught a couple of big ones on it, but normally I get decent bites, but more of them with that bait. I also have a couple of the Gambler ones, before Z-man sued them to stop making them, and they are excellent, much smaller profile and good for spotted bass.

I miss going to his garage and shooting the breeze and pickin up some chatterbaits... I think i have about ten left

Has anyone ever tried to make the ones Jerry made? I have about 4 left, replaced a skirt on one of them but that’s it. Still have a pack of green pumpkin jigs and black jigs.

Overpriced to me. I'm still using a black one with no skirt I got 3 years ago from fish tales. No idea how I haven't lost it yet but it catches them! Just wait till the new 39 dollar chatter bait comes out! The hook will be even shaper!! Those jackhammers sell......So if they sell the sky is the limit!

Anybody have a pic of one of Jerry Malone's? What in particular do Tou like about them?

I'm trying to figure out what works best for chatterbaits. Is it the movement of the blade, or something else?
