Tripleshot Transducer Mounting Location

For those running the tripleshot, i just bought a new lowrance unit with the tripleshot. Need some advice on mounting. The instruction say that it has to be more than 3" to the right of the prop. I dont have a lot of room there. Do you really sacrifice performance if you mount to the jackplate? I uploadeed a picture, there is not a lot of room to make the three inches where my current transducer is and is this even the right location?. Should it be on the back of the hull like that or on the next step down where the livewell intake is? Any advice is helpful! Not sure where to put this thing!

Can't tell much from that picture; what type boat?
Mounting it to the jack plate does not affect performance as much as the transducer comes out of the water when you are on plane, thus you lose any sonar reading. If you run a map card the jack plate is fine.
