31airborne - 6/26/2019 3:44 PM Oh yeah. A real American hero. Not! Public evisceration followed by castration is in order, I think.

Yep. He appears to be a fraud and duped a lot of people.</p>

I wish it said how he actually cheated. I feel cheated for reading all that content and it never says exactly how he did it, unless I missed something.... did I?

I remember reading his story in Bassmaster magazine years ago. He was supposedly the big bass expert in southern California and helped start the swim bait craze. After reading this story and seeing the video, he is not a big bass expert. Unless you consider snagging bass as a sport.

The aquarium in his garage with two large bass in it and then him weighing in two similar sized bass in the next tournament (which he fished alone). This combined with his remarkable successes when he fished alone, versus when he fished with a partner make me wonder about his integrity.

From reading the article it seems to imply that he had a secret live well in his boat, he used fish caught on previous trips and other lakes. He tied up a fish to a tree on one occasion and another he was catching 'dead' fish during the tournament from the back of the boat. Using other peoples fish to claim lake records (apparently one mentioned in the article has been rescinded after the article was posted). The article makes him seem like a master of cheating techniques.

Multiple ways: snagging (on video), catching fish at one lake and transporting to another claiming lake records, fishing on off limits lakes for starters.

I think you missed a whole lot, did you read all 9 pages? He snagged fish, kept them at home or tied up, then weighed them in and cashed checks. Skipped livewell inspections or kept the fish alive in a weigh in bag stashed in a compartment. Several of his former tournament partners accused him and wouldn't take any dirty winnings. He had an aquarium with big bass in it right next to his boat in a garage. He even hooked half dead ones on his line while his partner had his back turned and played them as if he just hooked them. These are accounts from people that used to partner with him but now refuse despite winning money. He was even caught red handed poaching tagged catfish and claiming he caught them elsewhere. And there's much more........

Im sure I missed something, but I’m totally on y’alls side. I’m convinced he wasn’t genuine. What I mean though is there is not any actual evidence. This is all here-say except for getting caught with the tagged catfish.

The one that stands out is the picture that he used to claim a lake record. It was another fisherman's catch that he had asked to have a picture taken with. The picture was then used to claim a lake record, but he didn't bring the fish to the dock like most people were doing. He just used the picture as his proof. The article had photos of both individuals holding the fish. In the background was a pair of sunglasses (I think) that were in both pictures. This fish was used in another photo as an illustration in one of his posts and the fish had grown over two pounds by the second post. Again the comparison photo with the angler that actually caught the fish had the same background. Then he was wearing the same clothes in both pictures.

I have saw claims that the lake record has now been erased and reverted back to the holder before him.

I think these photos that he used on two different occasions are evidence enough for me that he is willing and capable of cheating and has done so in this lake record.

It makes you wonder how many other people are cheating with all of the money now in tournament fishing.
This guy was able to cheat with other fisherman in the boat.
I also thought it was interesting that he won over 50% of the tournaments when fishing alone, but quite often blanked when fishing with a partner.

I hate to play the devils advocate here, but they said there is video of him but where is the video of him snagging? The also said in the article he failed a polygraph but later passed a second one. He was for sure good at cheating nonetheless. What I would like to know was who helped him and how. I’m sure this goes pretty deep.

It is on the article. You have to click it and sit through it a while. A guy filmed him from the bank and then showed where he claimed he caught them while fishing a jig. Caught red handed snagging and then lying.

100% accurate. I have accepted that everyone doesn’t use the same moral scale. I would say it happens more than we would want to know.

It happens a LOT. Anything where money is involved is ripe for cheating, why do you think the largest budget in a casino is the men in black looking for cheaters.
