Access point is now open to the public. It was mysteriously closed off for a long time.</p>

There is excellent fishing upstream of this point especially for Bream and Red Eye during relatively low flows.
</p>

In the fall you can literally fill your canoe, kayak with Muscadines by knocking them loose with your paddle.
</p>

Back in the 70's a friend and I caught 105 Red Eye's while wading after work one day below the Camp Canaan/Elsie Holmes area.

I cut my fishing teeth around that dam. Ive caught everything from rainbow trout to flatheads down there. I also got a warning from a Georgia GW for not having GA license, they would probably not hesitate to stroke you a ticket these days.
