must be bad luck because it was my only fish of the day.

I went shallow, deep, grass, wood, rocks, creeks, main river and every where else I could think of. Best bite of the day was lunch at Amigos.

It is normal for me to struggle some... I am just not very good but dang. Today was about the worst day I have had in a very long time.

but.. my married daughter who I never get to spend time with went with me. Great to spend time with her so it was a good day.

Am I the only one that stunk it up today?

It has happened to me 5 times in my life. I never got another bite 4 out of 5 times. Now I make a short first cast and I reel it in fast.

Sounds like u had the best catch of the day spending time with your daughter. I often see single fishermen on the lake and wonder where r there Children/grandchildren or someone they can influence or help? Many think winning that next tx is what’s going to make them happy only to find out that they r chasing another as soon as it’s over. I’m definitely not trying to bash anyone or speak negative against tx fishing for I do a little myself. Time spent with kids on the water is the best time ever. With that being said it has been slow for us the past couple of weeks. This morning we got about 5 takers but 4 came early this morning and I think I snagged a slick into the boat with a crank bait bigger that it was. Lol

20!! That doesn't sound like a tough day to me.

If I caught 20 I would be pumped no matter the size.

I second this! emoAngel Make a short little cast that has no way in heaven for catching one and get that first cast out of the way. If by some miracle you do catch one on it, go home. emoLaugh Jmax

I have always heard that about the first cast and catching a fish and I've had that to happen me several times too. But I've also had some good outings after that first cast fish too. Friday night I was out and on the first cast with a jig in about 14 fow I worked the jig just a few feet and felt a faint tick. Then I saw about a foot of line slack go in the line. I wound down and haphazardly set the hook. I felt the fish and thought it wasn't much until it came up and jumped. Then I yelled Oh crap as my partner scrambled for the net. She was just over 7 lbs. My partner and I talked about how this might not be a good thing. But we did have a good night and caught several other fish. It happens both ways.

Ive had it happen to me twice. Once was an 11.6lber, the other was a 10.31lber. Both were in August and Im not sure if it was an issue of luck that I didnt get a bite after that first cast, but more a product of my adrenaline...

I agree, it happens to me more times than not. This year I caught a 6 lber on 1st cast and caught only one 3 lber the rest of the night. I believe its all in your head and it can cause you to anticipate the next bite and fish faster than need be, then it snowball's the more you think about the 1st fish you caught.

Happened to me several times. Sometime when it does I instantly think it's time to go home.
