pretty sure that why we have seen such a decline in the "trophy" small mouth above and below Chick damn. Ive been saying this for years now.

This theory makes more sense than some of the other theories going around about the big Browns below Chick Dam. (drum beating them out of forage, people keeping too many smallmouth and taking them home, fish are way more educated than they used to be, etc., etc.).

Dad and I caught 40+ bass below chick dam one day last week - we lost count; which sounds great. but thats including ALOT of 8 inch fish man. Some stretches every 3rd cast with a 5 inch JB those little suckers would latch on near the rocks. A Brownfish would not have had a shot at it.

Yes ,me too churly.
It should be illegal to release one of the little pest.
Should be no size limit or bag limit on them.
They're good to eat. If a person doesn't want to eat them , throw.them up on the bank for the racoons
and herons.

Really hate to see this trend. As much as I like catching the AL spotted bass in Parksville Lake, I’ve seen first hand the decline of smallmouth bass at Blue Ridge Lake GA after the spots were introduced. I remember a US Forest Service fisheries biologist telling me in 2008 about the spotted bass in Parksville Lake. I was surprised to hear of them being there. If this trend continues there won’t be smallmouth in our area to fish for which would be a real shame.
