Trim Warning - Help!

Having an issue that i need some advise on. When sitting, trim works with no issues. When i am running or getting on plane, if i try to trim up or down for more than about a second, i get a warning beep that persists until i slow down and start again. However, if i bump the trim a bit at a time, i do not get the warning. It makes it hard to go from the motor buried to the trim level i need when running. I can continue to bump the trim and be fine, but concerned there may be a bigger issue causing this.

Anybody have this happen or have any idea what might be causing this?

Did you just install the new battery and then the problem started??? If so, check all of your connections to make sure that the connections are good and tight. Could be that the connections are loose or not good. Make sure the posts are clean and the motor connectors are the first on your battery posts.

Also, try setting up the voltage display on your depth finder / graph unit. It will show the voltage and you can monitor it as you apply the trim.

Also, check your voltage without the charger. It could be that the battery is bad from the manufacturer???

If you're running a Optimax, you really need to run a group 31 battery (AGM type preferred) with at least 1000 MCA's and a LOT of reserve capacity. You need to make sure the cranking battery is fully charged prior to each use. Good suggestions from sfd29 above also.

Thanks for all of the great information I didn't even realize the sonar had a voltage display! I will try that find that after work tonight. And rusty to your point, this is the third "brand new" battery i have had this year....Others went out quickly as well and were junk. I bought a duracell this time. Might just be time to breakdown and spend a bit more. And jbh3, i am running a 225 EFI.

One time mine shut off on plane when I trimmed up. Wouldn't start back up. Wire brushed the connections and it fixed everything
