Hi

After much deliberation and a close vote, the committee has elected to postpone CFF #3. This aligns with theGovernor's EO to avoid groups of more than 10 people, as well as allows us all to keep a safe distance from each other. This is not a decision we came to lightly, and was highly debated and discussed amongst the committee.

I apologize for any inconvenience this hascaused, but mynumber one priority is the safety of everyone. This has not been a fun time forany of us, as I work in healthcare and have been possibly exposed to individual(s) with COVID-19.

That is pretty lame. If the CBA can have an 70 boat tourney I think we can have one with 20. If you don’t want to be there don’t. But I am ready to fish. It’s pretty easy to stay away from each other.

At the end of the day my vote followed the "preference" of the owner of the forum. If you want to have a tournament then have it, but it will not be under the name of the CFF. The CBA held their tournament prior to Lee's executive order 17 on Sunday, March 23.

Face it, it is a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Effective at midnight on March 25, 2020, the following businesses will be required to close:

Indoor areas of shopping malls and all retail stores
Salons, beauty shops, and barbershops
Massage parlors, spas, tanning salons, and tattoo parlors
For those workplaces that do remain open, all workers should have their temperatures checked by their employers upon entering and exiting their place of business. Employees who are feverish should be immediately sent home to self-quarantine and seek medical care.

Additionally, all public gatherings of any size are to be suspended until further notice, including worship services, funerals, festivals, fairs, and public performances. City parks are still open but public access has been suspended at City playgrounds, basketball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, the Chattanooga Skate Park, and the hockey rink for now.

I hate that this has happened too. I think that all of us on the TX. Committee actually wanted to fish this Tx. The vote was 50/50 right down the middle. The NO voters wanted to fish but choose to vote NO on the side of caution. But the final and deciding factor came from Silverlight that owns the forum. They could actually be held liable if someone contacted the virus at the CFF event. That is what tipped the scales. So it is what it is and we move on and hope we can hold onto the April event.

Sorry guys. Never easy to postpone or cancel a tournament. Just like the deluge a few years ago during a night tournament, which was the first one I can think of we ever postponed. We had some happy people and some mad people. We are just trying to do what is best.

Erring on the side of caution is the correct choice. The direction from the state is 10 or less together.
I really would liked to have fished, but it is what it is.

Is there any thought of a make-up tx later this year, or do we just fish a 12 event schedule ?

I am practicing social distancing, but I was thinking that since we all have to be a hundred feet apart on the water, I wasn't in much danger, except from my partner - but that is a gathering of two. I think we could've stayed pretty far apart at weigh-in. I get wanting to be safe and not defy orders meant to keep people safe, so I'm not mad, just disappointed. I don't think the legal liability is really a thing because there is no way to determine where someone gets COVID 19 from at this point, as the Hamilton Country Health Dept has emphasized, we're in community transmission mode.

If somebody wants to organize the Not the CFF Tournament on Saturday out of Sullivan's, I'm in.

I’m unhappy with my previous post but I can’t find a way to edit or delete it, but it sounds way too much like grumbling, and the Lord hates grumbling. You all have to make hard decisions and I think y’all do a great job managing the CFF. I was hoping for this to be my first CFF tournament, but will try to catch you at a later one. I wonder if there is some way we can figure out the social distancing thing and still have tournaments, as this may last a while.

I don't get to fish with you often (1 time in five years) due to my occupation and work hours, but I know some of the committee members and it is the right call. As someone working long shifts in local hospitals this is not a time to take things lightly. If you do, it is at your own peril. I would hope everyone would take a moment to realize that fishing a tournament under these circumstances is not the most important thing right now. The truth is that the governor's executive order forbids it, "...Executive Order 17 prohibits social gatherings of 10 or more people..." so it becomes illegal.

If that makes someone mad, so be it. You were not down the hall when someone lost their life to this pandemic as I have been in the past few days. If everyone can get through this, there will be plenty of time for fishing in the future.
