There are trout in the Tennessee in some interesting places. I have caught them against Douglas Dam in Sept. (Above the dam, includes a 27" rainbow on a DD22) Watts Bar down as far as Ol' Piney, and Ft. Loudoun. I suspect that fish is a Hiwassee Reject, but you can never know for sure. Sometimes they just get a traveling feeling, (or had some help) makes a great story......

Trout used to show up above Watts Bar dam in June of every year. I have caught them there. Rumored to be trout that was washed into the river from a flood and a trout pond failing years and years ago. Don't know if this is true or not?

My father caught one on Nickajack in that little inlet before you turn to head to the powerhouse 3-4 years ago.

The temps of the reservoirs have been at the upper end of what they prefer, if they are not blocked by a dam they will probally follow that temp range. They should run up stream soon or just die.

i caught one a couple years back while wading the sandbar below chic. dam on a rooster tail, it weighed over two pounds. i had no idea what it was at the time and the guy out at jacks bait and tackle confirmed it was a brown trout.

Caught a few in the Chick usually in the spring, remember that they stock alot of the tributaries that feed into the TN river such as Ocoee and Hiwasse just to name a couple. They are rare but there here. I think thats a good thing because they are extremely sesitive to water temp and quality. If they can survive in the river then it must be cleaner than we think.

About two weeks ago a friend of mine caught a healthy 16" trout at the wingwall below Chick' Dam on wax worms while bluegill fishing. The trout he caught looked more like a laker than a faded out rainbow. You may know that the North Chickamauga Creek is stocked several times a year. It is expected that some of those will move downstream and come out into the TN River at the lower lock at the dam.

That is the third trout that I have personally seen caught in that area. I know that there must be many more caught that I did not see.

BTW, nice catch and thanks for sharing.
