UT 2011

Thought I would try to generate some excitment in the VOL nation.

If UT does not win at least 10 games next year I will be surprised.

First I think Dooley is an above average coach. Second I don't buy into the clich'e "we are to young". Youth doesn't hurt inexperience does and UT will not have that problem. Third most all good coaches have a break out year in the second year. The Ducks have a second year coach AU has a second year coach ( Wonder if Malzan leaves if they will promote from within and make Chizik the head coach)

It is just amazing how many 2nd and 3rd year coaches win NC's.

I don't wish UT any good luck! I just wanted to be the first to say so.

10 wins would be nice. Rumors of at least 2 Coaches & 3 players who started earlier in the year leaving UT at the conclusion of this season. Hopefully Coach DD can keep em out of trouble & get some good recruits & maybe we can squeak out a 10 win season.

UT will be alot better next year but i dont think they will be good enough to make it it the NC.

Not a chance, 7-5, and 8-4 would be huge.

Hate to say it, but this is more dead on. 7-5 because of the out of conference schedule, 8-4 or better would be a miracle. We are still WAY TOO YOUNG and are losing some bigtime senior leadership. If we get 10 wins next year I will get "ALABAMA IS #1" tattoo'd on my butt.

I love where we are going, and we are going to finish with a great recruiting class. Its just going to take a lot more time than a team like Bama or Auburn, due to the depth. We played most of this season with 58-60 scholarship players. Thats 25 short. Takes a few years to make up from that.

That should not effect next year unless the # of scholarship players returning is alot lower than other teams. Also UT should have game time experience on most any team in the SEC.

AU was way short on scholarship players last year but returned with alot of game experience this year.

Also ,every active coach in the SEC with two or more years seniority won at least eight games the second year. Nutt was 8-4 @ UA and 8-4 @ UM, Spurrier was 10-2 @ UF and 8-5 @ SC.

I will take 8 wins and be happy(thought I would never hear myself saying that.)..We need linebackers and O&D lineman very badly. We are very very thin there. I am excited about that skinny QB though he impresses me with the way he moves around in the pocket, slow but great footwork. I think we will be solid in the secondary and wideouts. Would like to pick up a Stud RB and someone who can field punts.

I'm very happy with the way Tennessee ended this season. 4 wins in a row, even though we weren't playing any top 25 teams or anything. Bray seems like a very good qb especailly that he's only a freshman.

No other SEC team has less than 80 scholarship players. Tennessee will have 68-70 (15 seniors, and other probably attrition)IF everyone qualifies from this recruiting class. Which never happens.

That would be a case of very bad recruiting on Dooleys watch. He should have fixed the attrition of the 2009 class in Dec.-Jan 2009.. He was allowed to sign 25 in Feb. of 2010 Dec will give him a chance to address the attrition of the 2010 class and he can sign 25 in Feb. 2011. That in it's self is 75. Is that not how it works?

7 wins next year for sure, but look to 2012 for comeback year.

... well, I do think that they have found a fine young QB much to my suprise. I don't think or see 10 wins, or a NC, but they should be much better than I would have projected 60 days ago. Actually, I never thought they would win 6 this year! I like Dooley, they should hang Hamilton Tomorrow though and make Pat the AD!

Dooley had 19 days to finish off the 2010 class. No way you can critize him for the situation he was in with that class. Which had 25 players, and only 21 made it in to school (grades). They are a part of the 60 scholarship players this year (2010). You graduate 15, gives you 45 players. He can fill 25 spots this year. If every one makes it in that brings us up to 70 as I said earlier. Not sure what you didn't understand about my original post. 70 players is 15 players short from the maximum. We should have a full bill of scholarship players by late 2012/2013.

I've been tooting the Bray Horn since before he committed. I totally agree with you that he is a great young QB, and will be a phenominal SEC QB by the end of his career. He's already set the Tennessee freshman Quarterback yards record in 4.5 games. Thats pretty impressive considering he's passed names like Peyton Manning, Casey Clausen, and Erik Ainge. They were some dang fine freshman QBs.

i am terrified of the sophmore fall off that young quarterbacks sometimes go through. Remember Ainge? Let's hope not.

Spoon is right though, looking at the Tn schedule there is not a game on there that is not winnable. a few bounces and Tn could be 10-2. i look for more like 8-4 or 9-3.

If history is any indication, Dooley will win over 7 games next year or his tenure will be short lived at UT. In the second season Mike Shula was 6-6, Dubose 7-5, Zook 8-5, and Cutcliffe was 8-4. Jim Donnan was fired over bach to back 8 win seasons!( because he did not have a 10 win season to hang his hat on.)

The standards are high in the SEC and patience are low! A 7 or 8 win season in 2011 will raise eyebrows. A 7-8 win season in 2012 Dooley will be on the hot seat. Anything less than a 10 win season in 2013 and UT has a new coach. This may not seem fair, Coach Bryant didn't think so but that's how it is and has been for years.
