Hit the Riverpark with AlvinC today. When we got to the ramp Skeeter175 was coming in. It was good to see Skeeter again since I had not talked with him since the Chick night tourny. As we were putting in Clint came in and showed us his 3.5lb smallie. Nice fish. Looked like a football.
We decided to try something new today. I have heard from numerous people how the smallmouth love the golf course bank so we decided to jig some tubes to see what lives there. Well the tube bite was zero. After my second break off I decided to tie on a jigging spoon (Dhaun would be pround) within 20 minutes I had boated a keeper spot and lost 3 at the boat. Alvin tied one on and caught a drum and a bluegill. emoLaugh
We then decided to hit our usually places. The pig n jig bite was slow today. We caught fish on a little of everything including: Sammy, worm, spinner bait, pig n jig, and jigging spoon. We had 3-4 fish that would have been keepers and I lost the fish of the day at the Market Street Bridge that would have went close to 2lbs (on a jigging spoon).
So it is getting close to dark and I have Alvin 12 to 3. He ties on a small white spinner bait and catches 6 bass in the last 30 minutes including 2 keepers. Unreal. If he could of had 30 more minutes he would have beat me for sure.
Numbers for the day.
21 bass total put in the boat
5 bass lost at the boat
Mix
2 smallmouth <12"
19 spots
0 lm
1 drum
3 bluegills
1 Coosa
1 Warmouth
All bass lost were spots
MB, there are 10 less spots in the river tonight and Alvin and I will both be having spots for dinner tomorrow.
I would add that today was maybe the best weather day we have had all year. Perfect!!!!!
