Put in this morning around 8:30 at Scottsboro, I couldn't figure out why no one was at the ramp I normally use...figured it out when the boat nearly bottomed out when I got in it. emoRolleyes
Fished the mats with a Bass Stalker jig, wind picked up and trolling motor quit. Drifted downstream until I got it fixed, went back to the flat I was fishing with no luck. Tried the rat on several casts, no takers. Ended up catching two measuring fish of a spinnerbait, I was so aggrevated I didnt even take time to photo them.
We took off from the mats at went to a small bridge to do some crappie fishing. People fish from the bank there all the time, so I said lets try it out. Turned out that the hydrilla is so thick in there, that the only place not to get covered is a small creek channel about 3 ft wide.
I caught one little crappie and 10 bream. Buddy caught 3 very small stripe, 2 small LM, and a skipjack. The water in this area was too clear. Did get to see some 12-13" bass chasing small bream. There is a underwater pipe about 4-5ft under the water. The only hole in the whole place and I saw several of the sma bass running in a pack. They were more interested in the small bream than my small grubs...
Me and my buddy sit there watching those fish for at least 30 mins. Very interesting.
Oh well, I know now why I didn't fish this area last year when the weather cooled off, I guess its back to the old stomping ground.
