BAD DAY TO FISH.

Good Lord. That is all I can say for my morning fishing report. Trying to fish out of my tracker was NO fun this morning. I know there was a lot more wind out there today than the CFF tournament, and I didnt have RRigsbys nice Stratos to keep me grounded. The bad part is We were all over fish and they were busting all around us. But I could only get 2-3 casts off before we were almost on the bank, that was with my trolling motor on 5 (out of 5).

Oh well, I live up to my reputation once again. Sorry Baitbucket. One day the weather may cooperate a bit?

Those schooling fish will haunt me tonight.

Have either one of you tried to look at the weather and THEN decide when to go fishing. I thought I taught my son better than that. emoScratch emoScratch ( Paul said it was going to be like this ) emoDoh emoDoh I'm glad you two got back safe. Better luck next timeemoPoke

I used to fish out of a 17' Alumaweld on the CA delta, which is like this about every day, here's how we got around the wind. About 50' of rope tied to the front of the boat and a 5 lb bell shaped anchor. Acts a lot like a wind sock but, to me, easier to use. On these windy flats get on the upwind side, chuck that thing out and do a controlled drift. It's heavy enough to slow you down, but light enough to drag sideways with the troller if you are getting off track. With the bow into the wind, you won't get wet from waves splashing over the transom. Only downside is the guy in the back gets first cast like he's really in the front!

You are the Man Flippen, but my solution is not to get my sorry butt out there on a day like this. FM, I called your son to cancel but he had his phone off. I hate to leave a man sitting on a dock no matter what the weather. The fish are there and busting!

Lotta you guys fish often enough that you CAN call your weather, I'm limited on when I can go, so short of a hurricane, I'll be out there. Just a glutton for punishment I guess!

I hate it when the wind is blowing that hard! Minner you said a drift sock was a big help? I've never used one but thought about it this year for crappie. Are they pretty hard to deal with? I saw some at Sportsmans but haven't gotten one yet.
