115 mercury cant get boat out of water

i have a 1990 skeeter bass boat 18' with 115 merc , takes forever to get out of water and plane out, once planed out motor runs good. Anyone have any ideas, prop is a 17 pitch
When there is two people in the boat i have to send that person to the front of the boat to get it out of water.

what rpm are you running out of the hole and on plane?

Mine did this last year and Wrechin2 (James Perry) told me to try the plugs. I changed the plugs that had not been ran very much, and my old boat was like new. Hope this helps. If not, I would recommend James if you have to get someone to work on it. From what I've seen, you can't beat him. Jim

sounds like a small prop for your boat i have a 19 pitch on my 16 ft boat with a 70 hp

Always try plugs first.

It should do better a lot better than that with a 17P prop. It may electrical issues and only running on 3 cylinders or have mechanical issues. The stator has a transition voltage at around 2-3K. I have to change a stator on Ditchdoc666 tomorrow because the stator failed and was running on 3 cylinders at idle and would run on all 6 above 2500. It would run good on top but would die at a idle. Just a thought!
