Does anyone know if a 2004 115HP Mercury (not Opti, Verado, just vanilla) has EFI or carbeurated? I am assuming EFI just because of the year model. Owner's manual doesn't say.
Thanks James, you came through again! I like to be educated about my quipment...
BTW, I filled up/ added Sea Foam (2 cans) to the tank yesterday after getting off the water. Curiously, that stuff smells heavily of alcohol, more like methanol. Seems odd that ethanol/ methanol in gas is NOT recommended, but Sea Foam may have it...
Alot of things (boats, cars, lawnmowers) are being made to use Ethenol. I have a 90 model OMC V-4,6,8 model manual that says it is ok to run 10% ethenol. I think I have also seen it in some of the mercury manuals. But it was a LATE night 1:30 am working on Oldman101's engine. And me not tinking guud! emoLaugh
Well, I would assume Sea Foam is OK even with alcohol since everyone raves about it. I'll let you know my results, if I notice anything change, after I run the tankful.
remember, It is not going to be a "instant" cure. If it doesn't have a carbon issue it will prevent it. If it has a carbon issue, it may reverse it over time.
I understand. It doesn't run badly at all, just tends to stall at idle, especially when putting into gear. It also hesitates when I punch it out of the hole. Curious to see if that is part of it.
After running about 3/8 of a tank, I can already see significant carbon removal at the prop. From grimy buildup to being able to rub with your finger and seeing little dirt.
