just curious what the benefit is to the airboat? Why is it better then a regular prop boat?

The difference is that airboats have to HP to chase the fish down the fan boat runs about 10 MPH with the fan going and when you get into a school of running buffalo or grass carp that are spooked its hard to get a shot off on a fish swimming away from you faster then you can go....

There is no disadvantage unless you are tournament bowfishing..... if you just want a boat to shoot casually and maybe some smaller shoots localy then a Fan boat is inexpensive and can get the job done... but when you go to tournaments all over the country and shoot with ALL airboats its hard to compete with them
