When it rains it pours...My exhaust pipe on the S-10 had a small leak in it, well last saturday on my way to work it broke and fell down. So I was trying to fix that today and got done with the repair, went to start the truck up and the engine turns over but wont fire. Sound like it aint getting any fuel so I checked all the fuses and they are good. Swapped relays around and still nothing. I cant hear the fuel pump load up when the key is turned so im thinking that the fuel pump is shot but it was just started like 3 mins before that.

Any ideas?

More than likely your are on the right path.If you cant hear the fuel pump running its toast.I would put an aftermaket inline pump on it.I think its in the tank.

Yea the fuel pump and the sending unit is one unit in the top of the tank. I dont feel like taking the tank down as the straps have never been taken loose since it was built. I have taken the bed off before and it can be done in 30mins.

Im hoping I can get it to my grandads shop, the weather isnt looking too good to be turning bolts out side.

Im just glad it didnt laydown on me at a ramp with the boat behind it, it waited till I was at the house. emoLaugh

i would check the fusible links on the starter. If thats not it shoot me a pm and i will give you my cell number and you can call. I am a mechanic so i run into alot of stuff like this

The engine will turn over but not start, acts like it aint getting any fuel. I havent tried putting any gas directly in the throttle Body but the butterflys dont seem to have any gas on them after I try to start it

This is gonna sound crazy, but take a 2x4 or a brick and slap the bottom of fuel tank real hard. Sometimes the pump motor will hang like a starter motor and you shake it a little and it will start running sometimes.Maybe this will help

hopefully you're on your way to resolving this tater, but i had a '95 s-10 do the same thing. mine turned out to be the fuel pump. kicking the gas tank worked to start it but only for a day. if yours is the same as mine, i took out the unit and just replaced the small pump inside, i think it was like 100 bucks at the time at advanced auto. and is easy to do. good luck man. mys10.com is a good forum site if you haven't run across that one.

I got out this morning and tapped on the gas tank and the pump started working. Drove around about 20 miles and came back. It started up every time and the pump is running pretty strong when you turn the key on.

there is a guy on the mountain that has a s-10/blazer only junk yard with low mileage trucks. I know he has the entire assemblys so I think I will go and get one from him cause the fuel gauge acts funny.

great news tater

No sooner than I posted that I went out side and it wouldnt start. I was going to take it to my grandads shop to get out of the cold but I decided to take it apart in the drive way. Funny thing is I got a garage big enough to do the job but its got a boat that I never use sitting in it.... emoRolleyes

Well the guy doesnt have a 95 model so I have to wait and get the job done Sunday or Monday. The bad thing is I think I runied the assembly when I took it out but its still in the driveway with the boat cover over it now lol Boy I tell you something right now, breaking bolts loose that have been tightend for 13 years is fun with out air tools.
