1999 Fict 200 idle problem

I have a Evinrude Fict 200, when at a idle in reverse or forword then go back to neutrel the engine at times will start reving up on its own. I have to tap the hot foot to bring it back to a idle. Just wondering if any one else has run into this problem. Thanks for any help.

Mine was doing that at one time, same engine. I then did the mistake of having my foot on the hot foot and putting it in gear at the same time and it shut down, would not start after that. I took it to Fishnfun and Ken put it on the computer and reprogramed it. I have not had either things happen since he did that. emoScratch Jmax

more than likely you have a sticking cable or you can have a bad shift switch sometimes the cable can be adjusted but at 10 yrs ols I would replace the cable
