just landed myself a used 201 pro xl stratos with a 1999 225 ho motor , motor is carb over all i think i done good on the deal. any you guys know of pro and cons of the motor . are they relieable or did i buy something thats gonna leave me hanging all the time. know of anything i can do to engine to make more durable for years of good service. im coming from a 150hp johnson faststrike motor that gave years of great performance and not one breakdown, so hoping i can get close to same results out of this one.

Friend of mine had a 201 with the 'Rude version of the 225 carb engine. Very strong motor. Will like gas. The 201 Stratos is a REALLY good fishing boat, IMO. Good luck!

What he said. Thing to have looked at or replaced before running to far

yeah ive already taken the oil tank out and plugged off the line ,trying to get all the gas out of each tank so can premix proper amount. this motor isnt the rude motor its just a carbed johnson 225 ho silver motor , didnt know if these motors were like the mid 90s 200hp omc that needs bigger jets in top carb to keep it cool and from destruction . already got new water pump and gear lube on the way, i dont wanna take any chances on when the last time it was done .
