Shot 2 does saturday evening. 2 weeks ago I mowed down my mix of beans, peas, and egyptian wheat and left a strip standing along the east side of the plot but cut it in a way that funnels the plot down to about 40 yards wide at one end. Planted winter wheat, oats, and daikon raddish. To my astonishment the new seed had sprouted and grown about 6-8" in 2 weeks without a drop of rain. I set up in the funnel Saturday evening. Dealt with off and on rain, and watched the vols go up, about the time FLA scored on that late 4th down I looked up to see deer pulling beans out of the egyptian wheat. The biggest followed the script to a "t" she followed the standing beans down to the end and immediately was broadside at 20 yards when she stepped on my side of the strip. Complete pass through the 10 ring, she bolts off leaving a glowing luminock coated red and I hear her crash accross the creek. The commotion got the attention of the other two, who within minutes were grazing right next to the arrow sticking out of the plot. I picked the bigger of the two and put a double lung shot on her. She slowly walked under my stand and accross the creek and up the bank out of sight. I called for help quick and had both deer located in minutes. Neither ran more than 50 yards. This was my first archery harvest since my heart attack last year and I was tickles to get two does closer on our harvest goal of 12 for the property!
