Have a few hours to kill yesterday eve. and decided to hit the water. Why not, couldn't have been half as bad as Saturdays weather...

So I put it at B.B. Comer bridge and decided to fish around the bridges. Threw a DT6 around some grass but didnt get no takers. Ran up river a bit and fished around some boat houses. Fish were making noise on top, but still no takers. Only fished for a couple of hours, but never had the first bite. I'll be glad when the water temps can rise into the 50's and stay that way for a while.

Warmest water I found was 47 degress consitantly. Did find some 48 degree water, but it was less than a foot deep. Loaded up the same time that 3 other boats did, I wasn't the only one not catching fish...

I am glad I am not the only one who has zeroed out lately. It has been tough for me as well these past few weeks. I'm with you Tater, ready for some warmer weather and water.

Hey Tater I found some water that was 89.9 degress It was only 2 ft. deep though. My Bath Tub after fishing Sat. 02-18-06 34 degress 14Mph. winds, I had to soak for about an hour.emoLaugh

I hear ya man, on the way home after the STNA tourney at the Chick, my hands were throbbing because we had the heat on in the truck.

Didnt bother me the whole time we fished, but when we were going thru the 75-24 split, they were hurting something feirce...

He said jergans, but I would look at the ingrediants and see if I could find something similar.

I am secure in my manhood, and can use jergans to keep my hands warm.emoPoke (just don't tell anyone Ranman);)

I HEARD IT !!! OOOOH I WISH I HADN`T.......DON`T KNOW BILL... DID USED TO HEAR OF HIM THOUGH....BUT KNEW AND WORKED WITH HIS SON OVER THE YEARS

I used something a little more manly(just kidding) to keep my hands warmer this year and it really kept me able to fish when I usually wouldn't have been able to. I have been using rubber exam gloves under my regular gloves. I work in a hospital and tons of the gloves get thrown away daily but many of the pairs don't get anything bad on them and they can easily be reused for fishing. You can buy nitril or rubber gloves at Home Depot or maybe even Wally World I would expect but they really make a huge difference. Ever since I was a kid and got my hands frost bitten, my hands swell up and really hurt when the temps get into the 50's and below that has really bothered them but with the gloves on I can handle it into the thirties. I also have just been using regular rubber surfaced work gloves on top of the "surgical" gloves because as you know, gloves that have thinsalate or whatever are very bulky and hard to use a baitcaster with. With the rubber coated, non-insulated gloves I can thumb the spool just fine and still keep my hands warm. A good buddie of mine told me about it this year and if you don't believe me you owe yourself to try it 'cause it really works.

I agree with Polo-Dog, Last Saturday I used some of the blue nitril gloves that they sell in the automotive section at Wally. There are 80 pair to a pack, I wore a pair of knobby jersey gloves while running the boat, when we stopped I peeled them off and used the nitril gloves.

They helped alot, when I mentioned that my fingers were throbbing, I had the middle, index and ring finger crushed in a shop air compressor about 6 years ago. Every winter they give me fits, last Sat. was no exception at all.

I was just pointing out what a legendary smallmouth fisherman has said to me once. He consistantly catches big smallmouth on Norris and Dale hollow. I know he likes to use a hair jig with little hair, and he hardly ever uses a trailer. Brown and black Maribu hair jigs that someone local ties for him.

Good Question though but I usually use some scent to cover up any odors that may offend fish.
