Fished Nickajack on Monday after the ice melted and it turned out to be a good trip catching 19 white bass in about 2.5 hours. Kept the biggest 10 and had a nice fish fry...All were caught trolling in 20ft. using a Cordell Wally Diver. Had several doubles while fishing with my wife. When you move through a school of them hold on!

Could you mark them with your graph and what did the schools look like? Were they suspended or near the bottom? Were they out on the main lake or in the creeks or were they below the dam in the flow? Sounds like a very productive trip. You and your trolling, I really need to learn how to do that.

Great report Jerdog! Were you fishing in the morning or afternoon? Trolling motor or 4-stroke trolling? How deep do those wally divers go?

The fish locator was full with them...but they were concentrated at the back of the dead lock. This was in the afternoon. The wally divers dive to about 10 feet. I was using the 4 stroke engine and it was at about 2 MPH to get a hit. Normal trolling speed was too much, so I had to put it in gear, then idle.

I fillet them up and try to clean them by keeping as much of the dark meat off as possible. When I remove the skin, I just fillet a little shallow and most of the dark meat is left behind. I cook them in the oven with some butter, onion, and peppers. I love it.

What do you mean by salts?

Gotcha on the salts...I think when they are active and feeding they will hit about anything. There was a stretch of about 30 minutes where fish were busting on the top and the gulls were feeding very hard.
