I started to go yesterday and decided I was not going to because it has been so cold. Then the weather yesterday looked to be real nice to be out there. Today I decided to get out of the house and try it a little at mid morning. As luck would have it the wind picked up and with the wind chill was below freezing.emoBang I tried to bass fish and hit several areas up river trying to learn areas I am not familar with. I managed only seven which would have been O.K. if not for the fact that there was only two that were decent. The biggest was about 3 lbs and it hit a white tube. I had a couple that were minnows disquised as bass.emoRolleyes Well I did get back out and get some fresh air. I am just not catching them like I have in the past couple of years this time of year.emoScratch I am ready for it to warm up. the best bait for me today was my stand by silver buddy, followed by the worm and then the tube. That was the only three baits I had bites on. I did loose two coming to the boat. they were hitting so lightly in the wind it was hard to tell. Even that three I never felt hit, just picked it up and it was heavy so I set the hook and there he was. I am ready for it to warm up, oh, I said that already.emoCool Jmax

Hey thats a good job on a cold and windy day. I agree we need some warmth in a hurry. I think we will get a break in a couple of weeks. Good luck to all until then. The end of the month will be hear soon.

Don't feel bad Jmax. I went yesterday and managed only one, which was a keeper but just barely. I tried to crappie fish but the wind kept blowing me off the spot and even with the anchor down it was just blowing too hard for me to see a tap on the line. I'm gonna wait until we have a day or two of upper 50's to lower 60's and try them again. According to my calendar from last year we were catching crappie in the main bay at Harrison Bay at this time. It's been a weird year for me with crappie and bass.

Jmax, to brave the elements of yesterday, puts u n a class with very few, but thats what puts u above the average fisherman. Good report, enjoyed the read and I'm waiting for the warmer weather also. Good luck in the tx sat.

Good deal jmax glad to hear you catching some of my fish. Did you try throwing under your boat, its a great placeemoLaugh. Just kidding jmax emoPoke call me later and we will converse on where abouts you were fishing. Sorry I couldn't go with you but I had to sleep, had to work that night.

Good report Jmax. Good to speak with you today about your exploration. It sounds like once the water warms a little you'll have some great new areas to work. FNF, I think that the water temp is quite a bit cooler this year than last. JerDog posted that the water temp was 46 degrees 2/13 last year and rsimms and DHaun were catching crappies in 8-10 feet of water with his spider rig and it was snowing. I think that the water is in the uppper to mid 30's right now in the creek. I think that it will take a few weeks of warm air temps to get the temps up to where it was last year. I don't think that there are any crappies on those flats that rsimms and DHaun were on but maybe I'll run over those flats tomorrow to see if there is anything on them.
