There are tons of Optimax Mercs out there.
What oil do you run in your tank? And how many folks have blown their's up?

I have a 2008 115 optimax and use Mercury Premium Plus TC-W3 oil, and have not had any problems.

It depends on which Optimax motor you have. The normal non Pro XS Optimax motors are supposed to run Mercury Optimax/DFI oil in them. The Pro XS Optimax motors are different and the recommended oil in them is Mercury Premium Plus Oil. You can run Premium Plus in the standard Optimax motors if you can't find DFI/Opti Oil.
