I was needing some advise it is a carb motor I took it out in oct. Was running full trim bout 67 mph and it all of a sudden got sluggish and would not run over 55 trimmed all the way up and couldn't give it full throttle it would get really sluggish but I could back of to 3/4 throttle it would pick back up....got home pulled pluggs changed gas #1 cyl. Plugg was fouled and the others wernt really good took it back out tues and it never missed but it still feels like somthing is holding it back it idles great and runs smooth just still won't run but bout 60mph trimmed up and motor don't seem like its turning enough rpm...full trim its turnin about 4k to 45k compression checked out great any help would be good

Do a leak down test on it, working for James (wenchin2) I have seen many engines that passed a compression test but failed the leak down and needed to be rebuilt.

Also did you fill up with a different octane maybe?

Oh and I also had put some stabil fuel conditioner in it but I drained all of it out before I ran it and changed pluggs it still felt sluggish

Evidently you are just running on 5 cylinders. Could be either lack of spark or fuel to that cylinder. If it's lack of fuel it's also not getting oil. Continuing to run it could result in an extra vent in your block. If it were mine, I'd shut it down and get it to a good mechanic. James is certainly a great resource in your area. Bunch Marine runs a great shop in my territory. Good luck whichever way you go.

As JBH3 stated, you are more than likely running on 5 cylinders and will drop approximately 1K in RPM. With the single bowl carbs it would be effecting 2 cylinders unless it is a jet issue. If it is a lack of fuel it is running lean and will cause the combustion temps to rise and melt the piston. It could be the ignition is breaking down or possible blocking diode in a CDM (capacitor discharge module) causing a double fire in on or more cylinders creating detonation. The simplest thing to do is to run at wide open throttle for 15-20 seconds and pull the kill switch. DO NOT LET UP ON THE THROTTLE. Pull the plugs and inspect. If one is "wet" then the ignition is more than likely breaking down. If one is white or light tan DO NOT RUN ANYMORE!!!! This indicates that you are leaning out or have a detonation issue. I will include a picture of apiston that started out the same way as you describe and turned out to be a center main bearing scavenger line had broken and was behind #3 carb and leaned it out.

Here is a thread on one with good compression and had mechanical issues on 2 cylinders that was picked up with a leakage test. http://www.chattanoogafishingforum.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=45496&posts=29&mid=352719&highlight=200&highlightmode=1&action=search

Pictures of a 2003 150HP that the hose broke on.. Notice the piston is melted at the top. This is from the lean fuel mixture and high combustion temps.
