I have a buddy with an Evinrude motor with a cylinder down. Started running bad and blowing the fuse to the control for the oil system. Low oil light would come on and would only let you idle until you replaced the fuse. Took it in to get looked at and all cylinders at 115 to 120 except for one at 59 lbs.

Would you try to get someone to fix the engine, or trade it in on a good used motor. If you would fix it, do you have any suggestions on who and possible ballpark cost.

Had a friend with a similar issue. Turned out a cylinder had a pin hole drilled through it due to injectors or something being off. New piston old rings and good to go.

As a broken down core motor, you'd be lucky to sell it for #2k. Better to rebuild it. for a big block ficht, new rings and a new piston, at least 3,500 with a warranty. vs. 6k plus for a used motor. IMO
