Fatheadz pro Jacob Wheeler of Indianapolis, Ind., has stretched his lead back to almost six pounds at the end of day 3 competition in the Forrest Wood Cup presented by Walmart, on Lake Lanier Saturday. Wheeler has lead all three days of the biggest world championship of bass fishing.
While most anglers have targeted deep spotted bass on Lanier, Jacob has focused on the shallow water largemouth bite up in the river. This decision has allowed him to weigh in the biggest stringer on day’s 1 and 3 and has put himself in a position to become the youngest angler in history to win the FLW Forrest Wood Cup.
The weird part is that while fishing with Jacob last year on Chickamauga, he told me that he planned on fishing for a living and I thought yeah right. I quess he was pretty serious because he won the BFL All American that year and it looks like he is set to win the FLW Forrest Wood Cup in his first season fishing the FLW tour.
