First, CFF #5 was my first CFF tournament and I really enjoyed it. I met a great bunch of fishermen and had a ball. It was my first fishing trip with ChooChooSnakeMan too and I truly enjoyed fishing with him.

We ran to our first spot and worked our way to the back of a small pocket thinking they would be up bedding. Throwing green pumpkin shaky head and a chatterbait. We hit 2 non-keeper LM on the plastic and a 10-12 lb magnum drum on the chatterbait. We saw several beds but no females. We then hit a couple of staging areas near known spawning areas but no takers. We tried a few more spawning areas and hit 4 more non-keepers, saw more males on beds and some really clean beds along gravel / rocky banks (no leaves). Saw one fish that might have been a female but she wasn't locked on a bed, she was super spooky.

Beautiful day to be on the water.
Thanks for letting me participate!

FYI, I'm about to look like a spammer because I'm going to cut & paste this on several CFF #5 posts because I want folks to read this. :)

I just happened to be coming in during the weigh-in Saturday (after chasing cats). My son-in-law... a budding avid angler... wandered over to see a weigh-in in action. I have obviously ruined him because his comment was, "Too bad you can't weigh-in catfish. We could have won with one fish." emoBigsmile My son-in-law (pictured below) can be a little bit of a smarta$$. emoEvil

Y'all know I rarely bass fish - unless there's a live shiner or shad on the end of my line. ;)

But I LOVE reading the CFF Tournament reports. As the #3 CFF member (after creator DHaun and his daughter), it does my heart good to see so many CFF brethren sharing and gathering.

Y'all do good work! Keep it up. emoThumbsup
