23 Annual Food and Beverage Tournament

I finally won a tournament and it was not a bass tournament. I spent the week in Hilton Head SC and went deep sea fishing. We hired a charter and the Capt. asked if we wanted to fish a open cobia/king mackeral tournament. WHY NOT!! Our team took first place with the two huge cobia. Weight was 112.8lbs. It was a record for this tournament. The big fish was 69.8 and the second was 42+lbs. I caught the smaller fish and my team member caught the big one. We paid for our trip and brought home some change and plenty of good eating fish. The big fish was caught on a large jerkbait. We had 9 cobia total. All in all a great time was had by all. The charter was with a Capt. Kent Bird out of Sea Pines Marina. He was excellant. We fished about seventeen miles out over a wreck. Cobia were everywhere. I had fished with him a couple years ago for King Mackeral, believe me cobia taste better.emoThumbsup

The longest toughest fight I've ever had was with a cobia,Don't know what it weighed because after we got it to the boat which took about 20 mins. We wasn't sure how to get it up over the side of the boat. We figure it was around 80-90lbs. compared to others we saw brought in. While we were figuring out what to do it broke the hook. Congradulations on landing 2 nice ones and on the BIG win.
