I fished through HBSP night series and caught 2 bass on consecutive cast. The 1st 1 was close to 5 and the 2nd one was 3ish. Tim said I need to take a break with oxygen, and I said I didn't use it. The bigger fish had a bloody tail and the male had 1 as well. They were caught in same spot in about 12 FOW on structure. I heard that some do spawn a second time. What are yall's thoughts?</p>

Any fish relating close to the bottom for extended periods of time will have a bloody tail. Ive seen many fish caught out of shallow water in the fall with bloody tails. That being said, anything is possible and nothing would surprise me

I think I might have taken that one home to eat and find out if there were eggs or not. The Chick could probably afford to give one up for that kind of info.

What Churly said.... I've caught em in the cold months with a bloody tail
and fat, I think they are pigging out and know colder days are coming

Caught this one last week in 10 FOW. Noticed the tail was beat up and bloody as soon as I got it out of the water. I remember thinking "that's weird for this time of the year!" The tail looked like the fish was or had been on bed recently.

I wished I took a pic. It weighed almost 5 and the male was 3.5. Tim and Charlie both seen it. Maybe they will chime in.

Fish can have bloody tails any time of the year, if they are relating to hard bottom it's common for them to look like the photo above.

They were entirely red. The whole tail. I assumed it was just a little to much pure oxygen. The other fins were red and blushed looking as well. I was really just guessing that could be what was causing it. I could be completely wrong on this but those fish looked completely different on the fins than any others we weighed in. It was just a thought. By the way. The tail was not bloody like it was spawning. It was the complete tail and the other fins as well. They all swam off fine so I think it wasnt a big issue I was just wandering what could be causing it. Maybe its all that red on your boat rubbing off on them haha!!
