Hit the Riverpark again today with AlvinC (I had to keep pestering him to get him to go). We got on the river about 2 and fished until 8. Perfect weather! The day started off with a 2.5 lb, 16+" largemouth followed by a 7lb drum (3 trips in a row with a drum). After that is slowed down a lot. At 5:30 we had boated 7 fish with a 2lb smallie thrown in for good measure so we decided to try something different. We went straight accross the river and started fishing rip rap with the sun on it (east bank). We started catching fish right off on small white cranks. We ended the day with 19 bass and the 1 drum. Not bad. We boated 4 smallies and the rest were split between spots and largemouths. The largemouhts were in shallow water, 5 feet or less. The key was to be on rock banks on the east side of the river.
Most fish came on white cranks (6 feet divers) with some being caught on pig n jig (black/blue), finese worm, and tubes. Water temp was 54-55 degrees. I kept 5 spots for dinner and one spot had 3 crawfish in his stomach and he ate my crank bait. Unreal.
Next weekend should be wide open. I can't wait!!!
Oh yeah, I got a picture of the drum but not the largemouth or smallie. emoDoh
