3-20-2007 Accellent Work Tourny

Today 8 of us from work had a little dogfight out of Racoon Mountain. Fellow CFF's AlvinC and Sandskeeter were part of the festivities. AlvinC was my partner as usual.

Our plan was to get a limit of spots and then try for a couple of largemouths. Started out pretty good. Within the first 35 minutes of fishing we had our limit of spots so we decided to head up river to look for some LM. Now keep in mind the other three boats headed down river in search of largemouths. Our hope was they would not catch a limit and we could beat them with numbers as we were pretty confident we could get a limit of spots. Well, we got close. We did manage to catch 1 16.5" LM and more keeper spots but just could not get a kicker fish. We ended up in second place with 7.6 lbs with Sandskeeter and partner winning with 11.4 lbs with 4 largemouth (the largest being around 4lbs). Hopefully Sandskeeter with post his report later. Third place was 4.2 lbs with two largemouth and last place was a goose egg. Our fish were caught on spinnerbait, white crank bait and pig n jig in 5 feet of water or less. We boated 12 bass total with 9 of them being keepers. As soon as the clouds lifted around 6:30 we did not catch another fish. Unreal.

Oh, I caught 2 drums too.

All i can say is we got lucky this evening... Ram Jack and me and fished this same area sunday and had only gotton a small keeper out of it, but today they had moved up... caught the 4 on a senko in a brushpile. Caught another good keeper and lost another 4 to 5 lber on a trap. Mkilgo had a good one bust a spinnerbait on a laydown and a red trap produced his other keeper.. had several small ones.. Like whiskers said when the clouds broke and the sun came out the bite died out.. Pointer thats one of those gander mnt special discount ugly hats that I bought to keep the sun off my tender ears.... not for sale. Want to thank all my coworkers for getting in on this thing.. hope we can do it a couple of times a month...
