3/29/2007 More bass, less size, about 40 total only 11 lbs best five.

Went today from 8 to 3 and caught about 40 bass. Went to two different places than I did Tuesday. Caught bass on the spook, a spinner bait, a worm, and a sinko. Today only caught four keeper LM. One 3.5, one 2.7, two right at 2 and then four keeper spots. The rest of the bass were short.emoScratch I do not know where the big ones went today. Would have had about 11 lbs with the best five. The biggest one looked like a female that was already spawned out. I also talked to another guy on the water and he said he had one the same way. Water temp was over 70 degees today and I swear those fish are bedding already. This is one weird year for the spawn. The bass were anywhere from 2 feet to 10 feet again as they were tuesday. My spook worked early but unlike yesterday they stopped hitting it when the sun broke out. I hope it is overcast and very cloudy this weekend so the top water bite will last longer.Looking forward to this weekend and hope we all get our limits.emoCool Jmax

Sounds like Guntersville last Sunday...water temps over 70 and big greenish-white flashes as we spooked females off their beds. We might have to do some sight-fishing this weekend in order to produce decent sacks.

I also wanted to say I was by one of TT's spots just off the bank and out in front of it are two stumps. I got a short LM off one of them but as I went by it I saw something floating about two feet under the water next to one of the stumps. I got the net and reached down to it and low and behold a brand new crank bait.emoSmile If that was one of yours TT I just wanted to thank you for it. It looked like it had just be bought. I hope to get some good use out of it.emoEvil Jmax

Wow Jmax, it sounds like you are really on the fish. I'm glad that the fish are still shallow. I'm glad that the spook bite has been working for you too.

I'm breaking out the spook Sunday morning. Weather forcast calls for cloudy and 50% chance of rain. Hopfully they will be on it all day!

Hard to believe bass with any size are spawned out or bedding already on the Ol' Chick. Water seems too low.........guess you learn somethin' new everyday.
