AlvinC and I left work early today to enjoy the perfect weather. We decided to see if the spots had started moving up with the warm weather. The short answer is no. The water temp was around 53 degrees so we are probably another week or two away from the mass migration of spots to the shallows. In our search today we threw a little of everything. We boated 4 spots, 2 largemouths, and I get 3 nice trophy drum (hey Dhaun, what size drum does it take to be a HOF'er?). I did manage a nice spot that was close to 3lbs and a largemouth that was around 14". Not a bad start to 2007 fish wise and I did not have any boat problems the first day out so that is good. Going back Saturday to get some more.

Baits: the drum and 3 bass came on black/blue pig n jig, 1 spot on jigging spoon, 1 spot on Lucky Craft crank, and 1 largemouth on worm.
Depth: 2-14 feet. Yep, everywhere in between too.

Glad to see your boat back on the water MrWiskers! - Thanks for the report! I spent the whole day in a cubicle doing software testing, be doing the same this weekend...so its great to see CFF members getting out on such a great day with calm wind and an incredible Chattanooga sunset.

Trophy Drum in the CFF HOF? I don't see any reason why not - This area does hold the world record and you have some fine looking fish in those pics! Since you asked, not sure just yet on the size but I figure 20+ perhaps. I still think we need to have a "Big Fish Drum Jamboree and Hootenanny Tx" this year below Nickajack - maybe in late April to show coastal anglers we have them up here too, they just don't have spots and best of all no slot limit! Here's my biggest - and WOW it sure was good emoHungry

JK - It was released swimming in circles with one bad eye and is probably 75lbs by now - I named him Columbo.

My Gilligan hat got retired this winter so I got me a Mark Sosin hat and shirt. Now all I need is a pair of purple pajama bottoms to go with it. Now where would I get a pair of those........FA you out there, I need to borrow you pajamas.

I caught a small drum from Weiss one time, and my aunt and uncle ate it. Said that it was right tasty. Never tried one myself. I am sure that they are decent enough to eat.

They are good if you like licking a fillet knife!

DHaun... you put on a CFF Drum and Hootenany TOurney below Nickajack, then Minner and I would DEFINATELY be in!!!

Those are some baby drum. There are some real brusers hanging around wing walls below the dams. I an not even going to iscribe one that I caught. If I did you guys would think it was just a fishtale.

In my opinion, A Drum should be at least 20 lbs to qualify for HOF consideration. </p>

I'm trying to remember if I have already posted it or not. Oh well, here it is. This was a few years back.

I've seen that picture before. :)

It's a killer drum ... and When you're much better lookin' when you are holding a big ole bass than that ole nasty drum too.

DHaun and Mr.Whiskers .. are you sure you all aren't related. I swear that smile smirky thing you all do is too familiar for you all not to have some common chromosomes SOMEWHERE!

When ... is it possible to catch a bass that big in the secret hole???
